I always wanted to explore the beautiful scenery of my beloved country Philippines. To reach wonderful islands has been one of my desires ever since elementary. I’ve been looking at postal pictures or the calendars that showcase tourist spots of the Philippines. I cannot forget how smitten I am with the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, I simply am amazed of its structures and beauty.
When our group together with travels and tours was about to reach the famous chocolate hills, I keep on thinking how would I feel when I see this one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I keep on thinking how it would look like since I’m only seeing it in pictures. I cannot fathom the excitement that I have while our vehicle is reaching the parking area. I’m like a child with bright eyes. I keep on taking pictures from the vehicle. I look around the place feeling the whole world and embracing the fact that ‘I’m here’. One of my dreams has come true!
Everybody in the group is happy. There are lots of vendors around the place in case you need some drinks to quench your thirst from traveling miles. Buko juice is good! There are also souvenir shops in the place. I got a t-shirt that says ‘I’m loving Bohol’. I like what it says so I bought it. Then after that one unlimited pictures were taken. From left to right, from back to front. Well you cannot blame me. I guess the group is thinking the same way.
Seems like I almost cried in these pictures because of the hot weather. Sun is not so friendly that day. Carry your best umbrella when you go there.
The climbing part
You cannot experience the whole place if you will not climb the long stairs. When you are up you will see the whole area atop. I don’t know how many steps you will take but all I know is it’s all worth it, the sweat and tired muscles is all worth it once you see the splendid creation of God.
There are many activities at the top of the hill, first and foremost picture taking. Never ever to forget the camera and pose all you want with the hills as the background. There are many photographers and his assistants ready to help in getting good pictures of the group or solo ones. You will just have to pay 50 pesos per person for the photography fee. I understand their job fully well. I guess that’s the work of tourism, helping the community earn jobs. Another activity that I personally did was to be alone for awhile and commune with the nature. I try to stay away from the crowd and feel the place. I immerse myself with good thoughts while memorizing the details of the hills, how huge they are, some are green, some are brown. Just the thought and I began to smile. God has truly blessed Philippines I concluded.
I can see foreigners enjoying the place too! Some photographers are creative; they make use of broom as props to attract tourists to take pictures. When pictures are taken, people are like flying using the broom. Few steps from the top you will see t-shirt print establishments. Ready to print the newly taken pics you have. I think t-shirt price ranges from 200 to 300 pesos.
There’s another way to go down the hill. The group used the other way around as to experience another kind of adventure. On the right side as you go down, you see farms and small houses. There are flowers around too that added enjoyment to tourists. There is a Mama Mary statue that stood in the place.
All in all the Chocolate hills experience was unforgettable. And how could I ever forget? I don’t have a reason, the memory will left a smiling face in me.
