Big Day at Bigby’s

Yesterday is a special day because it marked as the day of our first year of officially dating (Bryan and I of course). Bryan has been the generous type of guy who gives me what I need and sometimes what I want. I became spoiled sometimes but he makes it a point to not tolerate this kind of attitude. As a present for yesterday’s, I slowly opened a small package and ta-da! A wrist watch is revealed and shining right into my very eyes. But I already expect that he’ll give me something (giggles), that is why I look forward to month’s celebration and year’s too! Sounds clever *-* This thought gives me a thrill and enchantment. But hey that is not the reason I’m happy about us, I’m just happy that we make up to our differences and get along and adjust to every situation we have (hope so) :-)

We have revisited Bigby’s Cafe this time, all in all the dinner was great from main dish to drinks and desserts.
Rack a bye baby is such a sumptuous dish. They are right when they brand it ‘you can’t get enough of it’. Perfectly describes how good it taste.

Wandering Mind

Author: yanilea  //  Category: Foods and Recipes, Personal

I found myself not motivated to work these days and I don’t know why. I am receiving the appropriate salary and treatment but still find some looses. I’m serious about this. Maybe I need a real break. My mind just don’t want to think, it wanted just some entertainment and funny thoughts. And work is such a serious job. Haaayyy. Sometimes I get tired with this fuss ( I can’t elaborate it here) So thinking what could be more appealing and entertaining to me at the moment I try looking up into my old pics. I really love pizza and I have collection of pics of them. Maybe this could relax my mind. I’m starting to crave for pizza as I look over at these pics. Hope I have one on my hand ready to bite as I try to overcome this frustration and wandering mind.

A friend’s Wedding

Our friend Fibe finally said “I do’s” to his partner Mackey and we were invited to witness this important day of their lives as they asked for the blessing of Matrimony. As expected, I’m thrilled to see her don her gown down to the altar, this happens only once in a woman’s life and and this could be the most special event of courtship. But I don’t know what was really on her mind during that day. Wedding was held at San Isidro Labrador Church, Gusa and followed with a fab dinner at De Luxe Hotel.

My Grand Caprice Hotel and Restaurant Experience

Grand City Hotel and Restaurant

Thanks for the very quick visit of our client from San Diego California, I finally got the chance to have a superb meal at the Grand Caprice hotel and restaurant the third time during our meeting. First was when we had our quarterly general assembly last August 2008, second was last 2008’s Christmas Party and the latest was last Thursday. Grand Caprice is located at the Limketkai Mall Center vicinity, it has a wide space for fine dining and accepts gatherings at their halls. Thanks for the help of their dedicated service every celebration and gatherings became a success and worthwhile.

In all fairness, their soup was the very best soup I had ever tasted (except mama’s sinabaw :P). No promotional purpose intended for this but really, it was really good. Green leafy veggies, dim sum foods and sea foods are mixed on it that makes it more likeable to sip and devour. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to take a picture of it, was busy eating lol!

Plate with foods

Here’s a plateful of foods I took after our meeting.

Below are some pictures taken when we had our assembly which themed cosplay at the said hotel.

Loreto's Grill

Loreto’s Grill offers entertainment while waiting for foods. Their table mat looks like this. You can spend time looking for the arranged words hidden at the puzzle.

They also have a widescreen TV and acoustic singer to serenade their customers. By providing these entertainments, their customers would unlikely get bored. Christmas décors are also widely spread out at the place.

Lokal Grill and seafood

I’ve expressed last time that everyday should be a celebration of love. Never fail to celebrate love with all the people who mattered to you. Bryan and I has this tradition of trying out new things and dining out. This time, we tried the new Lokal grill and seafood at Coralles Avenue. Simple dinner it was but truly amazing.

For those who loves seafoods like me, hurray! We found a great house of seafoods at Lokal. They offer varieties of seafoods to grill if you choose them to from fish like tanigue to squids to shrimps, name it and they have it. You can opt to order from their menus that has this irresistible taste. Like these servings we ordered:

Chop suey

Chop suey is an all time favorite

Tempura kare kare

Bryan’s most awaited part of dinner as he bluntly told me is the Tempura kare kare, compose of calamares, squid and some veggies.

We became full the minute we devour these bowls of tasty foods.

shrimps

Take a look at how large this shrimp is compared to the usual size.

Healthy and satisfaction guaranteed, that’s what I can say about their servings.

Plus their place gives a relaxing ambiance.

Gelato

Gelato

A gelato stall has just newly opened at Robinson’s second floor right at the entrance of Robinson’s grocery.  In case you don’t know what gelato means, it is a rich ice cream made with eggs and usually containing a relatively low percentage of butterfat. I tried twice with different flavor, it was very blissful. Though its price is P45 per cup but it justifies the quality. Two thumbs up for me! :)

The World Has a Clearer View

I regret that I have never taken good care of my eyes. Bad habits like reading while lying in bed, reading in dark areas, not eating the right foods contributed much to this problem I’m having with my eyesight right now. Myopia (Nearsightedness) is a vision impairment which prevents me from seeing far objects clearly. Only the near ones can be read, I cannot read letters and banners shown on streets. During college I also had to go nearer on the blackboard while on class so I can copy what’s written on the board.

Last week was a blast; I pampered my eyes by purchasing it a new pair of glasses, its been ages that it’s been taken for granted. I have eyeglasses before but haven’t worn them always for I am not comfortable with it, too heavy for me. I would not take these new eyeglasses off except when I go to sleep, that’s a simple advice from the ophthalmologist. I was sad to hear the news after a check up that my right eye just got worst. God I’m guilty to what I have done with thy gifts.

Just to prove that I’m back to caring my eyes I purchase a Kappa eyeglasses. Psychologically pricing it is, I was convinced to buy it because it’s on 50% sale and had totally forgotten the high original price. Huh, later then I realized I paid high enough for it. Okay I just decided that this would be my gift for myself this Christmas.

I immediately put the eyeglasses on while trying to find Christmas ideas at the mall. I was introduced to a new view making me see clearly of what is really existing. I hope I’m not missing on something. I smiled as I see objects clearly specially the views when we pass through the hi-way. Hello world! It’s been a long time I haven’t seen you this close, is this how the world looks like? :)

And before enjoying the scene and twinkling lights from afar, we had our dinner at Dimsum.

Simple dinner it is, we had their dim sum platter and shanghai rice. I’m starting to get hungry now since lunchbreak is just 30 minutes to go.

Kentucky Fried Chicken

Author: yanilea  //  Category: Foods and Recipes, Restaurant

KFC

KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) is a famous and booming food chain not only in our country but all over the continents.

A glimpse of the life of the founder of the famous chicken food chain:

In 1930, the then 40-year-old Sanders was operating a service station in Corbin, Kentucky, and it was there that he began cooking for hungry travelers who stopped in for gas. He didn’t have a restaurant yet, so patrons ate from his own dining table in the station’s humble living quarters. It was then that he invented what’s called “home meal replacement” - selling complete meals to busy, time-strapped families. He called it, “Sunday Dinner, Seven Days a Week.”
As Sanders’ fame grew, Governor Ruby Laffoon made him a Kentucky Colonel in 1935 in recognition of his contributions to the state’s cuisine. Within four years, his establishment was listed in Duncan Hines’ “Adventures in Good Eating.”
As more people started coming strictly for the food, he moved across the street to increase his capacity. Over the next decade, he perfected his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices and the basic cooking technique that is still used today.
In 1955, confident of the quality of his fried chicken, the Colonel devoted himself to developing his chicken franchising business. Less than 10 years later, Sanders had more than 600 KFC franchises in the U.S. and Canada, and in 1964 he sold his interest in the U.S. company for $2 million to a group of investors including John Y. Brown Jr. (who later became governor of Kentucky).

Interesting story right?

It’s always ‘I can’t stop on popping’ line that’s repeating on my head as I enjoyed one of their special menus. Hmm the taste and smell just feels so right. This is an incredible chicken meal I ever had and I’m not mistaken with the choice I made for the dinner.

We went home smiling and satisfied with our dinner. And when I try to remember that evening, I can’t help but salivate. Silly me! :P~
